Use Great Habits if You Want to Become a Great Writer
We all have habits whether we realize it or not. Some of our habits are good and some of our habits are bad.
Now that may not interest you and you may be thinking "So what? Does it really matter? Big Deal!"
Well, actually, it matters a lot – probably even more than you've ever realized.
You see, as the great Mike Litman says, people form habits and habits form futures.
Now that is a very profound statement it means that whatever we do repeatedly today, will form the basis of our future.
For instance, if you get into the habit of pressing "snooze" on your alarm clock and turning over, then you'll always be running late every morning for the rest of your life.
Why?
Because you've formed a habit.
It's easy to learn something (like snoozing the alarm clock) but it's difficult to UN-learn something.
The trick is not to learn it in the first place.
And it's the same in your business life as a writer. If you get into the habit of writing often, it will stay with you. If you get into the habit of NOT writing often it will stay with you.
Do you understand how important that is?
Whatever you do in your personal life or your writing life, remember – you only have to do something once for it to become a habit.
So the thing to do now is pick up a pen and start writing.
And what should you write?
A writing plan for tomorrow – and get into the habit of writing a plan at the end of every day so that whenever you sit down to write you know exactly what you're doing.
