Have you ever sat and dreamed about one day becoming a successful writer; quitting your job and spending every day sitting and writing and earning a regular income that supports you and your family?
Then if it’s your dream, why isn’t it your reality?
And what are you doing to make it come true?
The biggest killer of dreams is “some day” thinking. Basically, this means that you dream that “some day” you’ll become the writer you want to be.
But when is “some day?”
The truth is, it’s never.
Some day thinking is a killer of dreams. It gives you a warm, cosy feeling that you are definitely going to make it as a writer...some day. And because you don’t know when some day is, you don’t take any action.
So what exactly is your own personal some day dream?
The problem is that some day thinking kills your dream because your lack of action means it will stay a dream forever.
Some day thinking means
But what if some day was today?
What would you be doing?
What is the first thing you need to do to start working towards making your some day dream a reality?
Do you need to do some research?
Take a writing course?
Build a website?
Outline your book chapters?
Buy a book to learn what you need to know?
Whatever it is, do it today.
Take that first step and then tomorrow, take the next step.
And don’t give yourself excuses like not smart enough, too old, too young, no time, blah, blah, blah. All those things are just a bunch of “so what?”
Make today your some day.
Start living your writing dream
And if you’re not sure of exactly what it is you want to do, remember the old saying that you don’t have to be able to see the whole stair case to take the first step.
You’re a writer. Use your creative mind to take your writing career where you want it to go.
“All the resourses we need are in the mind.” ~ Theodore Roosevelt
