I’m Ruth Barringham and welcome to Writeaholics.net.

My History
I was born in the UK in the 1960s and while I was still extemely young, my family emigrated to Australia. We lived in Sydney for several years before heading north to beautiful, sub-tropical Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland.

In the 1980s my parents moved our family back to the UK . Then in 2006 I returned to live in Brisbane with my own family. And I’ll never leave this wonderful city again.

My Writing Career
I began writing professionally in the 1990s when I was living in Lancashire in the north of England.

I had always loved writing for as long as I could remember so I decided to take a writing home study course. While I was doing the course I had a moderate amount of success with having stories and articles published in national magazines.

Then in 2005 I left my job in retail so that I could take could take up writing full-time. I also learned HTML, set up a web site for myself and began writing for private clients as well.

I then purchased two more writing courses, Quick Cash Writing and Write Any Book in 28 Days or Less.

Quick Cash Writing enabled me to write more articles, short stories, etc and have my work published more.

At the same time I began the Write Any Book in 28 Days or Less course and wrote my first horror novel, Playing For Real.

I then also purchased another writing course Write Your Own Profitable EBook in as Little as 7 Days and wrote and published several eBooks.

In 2006 when I returned to Brisbane it disrupted my regular writing somewhat, although at the same time I did manage to acquire a job working on 2 Australian Travel guides for a UK publishing company.

In 2007, after my life had settled down into some form of normality again, I established my own publishing company Cheriton House Publishing Pty Ltd and I now publish books of other writers in the Horror/Sci-fi/Fantasy genre and Self-Help books.

Along the way I’ve also set up several web sites which I regularly write for and I’m always working on my next books. I also publish a monthly newsletter for my web site Writeaholics.net.

My career as a writer has been both enjoyable and profitable but I do work hard and I always approach my work professionally.

My advice to anyone who wants to be a successful writer is to learn as much as you can, work hard and present yourself as a professional. And NEVER undervalue your writing talent.

As a writer it’s also wise to have as many different streams of income as you can, especially passive income from writing books and web site income.

Being a successful writer means always learning and applying what you know. The world of writing is always changing and moving on and never more so than today.

The internet has really changed the way that writers work. And it’s also made it easier and much more profitable.

As a professional freelance writer I'm happy to take on commissions for almost all types of freelance writing work from letters, short articles and leaflets to book length projects.

Web Page Content
There's nothing that can kill web site sales faster than bad web page content or confusing navigation. I can help you with home page content that can 'hook' your visitors and make them stay on your site to see what you have to offer.

Typing
Nothing can slow down a writing project as much as a slow typing speed. I am a speed typist and I can easily type up your handwritten/typed/scanned project (and edit it too if necessary). You can scan and email your work, fax it, or copy and post it.

Editing
I am a professional editor and have worked with many students, business professionals, novice writers, etc.

Business Writing
Whether you want help with writing a business letter or would like me to run a professional eye over simple contracts or other important papers, I'd be happy to help.

Fiction
I have been published nationally and internationally with my short fiction works in different magazines and web sites. I have also written full-length fiction (book manuscripts).

Articles
I have a lot of experience in writing short articles and would be happy to help with other short or longer projects.
